Is the "silent treatment" a more powerful choice? (The strength of the "silent" voice)

I am proud of my right to vote and have always been the biggest proponent of exercising this right.

Lately, however, I’ve grown more and more confused with the blurry lines between party views and unimpressed with the performance of our “so called” leaders. So… I try to stay away from politics; mostly because - the way the American electoral system is set up - I just don't much see the point or the influence of my vote.

Sure, there’s that argument that, if everyone would feel the same and do the same, than there would be a silent majority.

But you know what, maybe we need a "silent majority" every once in a while. I mean, what is one supposed to do when either choice is basically the same: a political puppet in the hands of a corporate or political need? Egocentric, self-interested and overwhelmingly powerless or simply ignorant to the people’s realistic wants and needs; ruptured from the daily realities.

Let the silence speak – I say. That’s a valid choice to make as well in a democracy. And that might just be my choice at this point. Because, you see, there is such a thing as too much talk. There are only so many times you can say something and keep hitting your head on the wall; there is only so much you can “scream” your needs before you grow voiceless and tired anyway.

Well, I am tired of saying things that everyone acknowledges as good and true, yet someone is too afraid or too “tied-up” to actually admit the faults and make a common sense change. The delusion of being heard is just too much of an irony when, really, you know your voice is simply “lost” in a system that is set up to produce what the big interests want – regardless of what the masses express.
So let this be my "silence before the storm". Because I do believe that we have reached a point when – both in the political and the financial world – the only way to get things back on track  is to promote a radical change. Not a "change you can believe in", but an actual, fundamental change.

I like to argue and debate - you would know that, if you know me at all. But I only enjoy arguments with a purpose and debates that actually spark a change or produce a new, more helpful vision. Debates are meant to give you a big picture and in-depth perspective,  make one realize what's missing and how to go about resolving the actual issues, based on facts, historical data and pertinent hypotheses.

But in this case... What is the point of argument and debate?

We have only two people amongst whom to choose and they are both nothing more, nothing less than incredibly "well-polished" politicians.
Actual policy is not made by a party - and even less by the president. I’m always amazed to find out how powerless such an otherwise powerful office is – talking about the President (even the one of the mighty United States).

So go do some honest research and give me your  frank thoughts:
Does my vote matter?
Does yours?
